Dollars for Scholars

Revamp of promotional print material for New Hampshire chapter of nation-wide scholarship organization.

Redesigned promotional brochure for prospective applicants, sponsors & donors.

The previous brochure was extremely text-heavy and didn’t properly convey the story of what Dollars for Scholars is, who it helps, and why people should care. Call to actions were hidden throughout, instead of prominently featured. The revamped design features pre-headings calling attention to the who, what, why and how . The cover was simplified, featuring a new ‘tag line,’ and an emotional image that connects readers to the mission of the organization. A QR code was additionally added for simplicity in taking the various next steps. Finally, the look and feel was modernized and updated to match the national style guide.

Redesigned initial letter prompting students to apply for scholarship.

The original letter was also very text-heavy, with no subheadings, spacing or paragraphic features to draw the eye and establish hierarchy. In the redesign, I added a headline featuring the primary value proposition of the organization to immediately compel students to continue reading. Vital information like application dates and transcript request contacts were pulled out and rearranged for more prominence. Helpful hints were translated to “Tips for Success” and cut down for better readability. Finally, the letter was updated to align with the national style guide.
